Your First Noraebang Visit: Rooms, Prices and Song-Queue Basics
Choose a small booth for a few songs or a room where the group can take turns.
The first decision is how long you want to sing. A coin booth can suit a short stop; a standard room gives a group more space and time. Before entering, ask what the displayed price buys and how extra songs or minutes are charged. Once inside, add a few songs to the queue and keep the turns fair.

Standard Noraebang and Coin Noraebang
A standard noraebang usually assigns a private room and charges for a set period. Room size, sound equipment and included drinks differ widely. A coin noraebang generally uses smaller booths and a machine that accepts coins, notes or card payment depending on the location.
Coin rooms are convenient when you want only a few songs. Standard rooms make more sense for a group that wants to take turns, sit down and stay longer. Prices are not standardized, so do not rely on a figure from an old travel post.
What Happens When You Arrive
- Tell the desk how many people are in your group.
- Ask the price and how much time is included.
- Confirm whether payment is made before or after the session.
- Enter the assigned room and check the microphones and remote.
- Leave when the timer ends or ask the desk about adding time.
Some machines offer English menus, but the song database may still be easier to search by artist name, song title or song number. Major Korean karaoke-machine brands update their catalogs regularly; a newly released song may not appear immediately.
Using the Remote and Song Book
The most useful buttons are usually song search, reservation or queue, cancel, key change, tempo and microphone volume. Do not change every sound setting at once. If the room becomes difficult to use, staff can usually reset the machine.

Simple Etiquette
- Share the queue instead of adding many songs in a row.
- Return the microphone after your turn and keep drinks away from equipment.
- Keep the room door closed so sound does not spill into the hallway.
- Do not photograph or upload other people without permission.
- Respect the stated closing time and any no-smoking rule.
There is no requirement to sing well. Group participation matters more than performance, and people often choose familiar choruses that everyone can join.
Alcohol, Minors and Late-Night Visits
Do not assume every venue follows the same alcohol policy. A family-oriented noraebang, a coin booth and an adult nightlife venue can operate differently. If anyone in the group is underage, choose an ordinary singing room and check the entrance notice. Bring identification when age verification may apply.
At night, confirm the final transport before starting another hour. Subway service ends earlier than many entertainment businesses, and taxi demand can rise sharply after midnight.
