Hamdeok Beach is beautiful because almost everything a first-time traveler wants is in one place.
Clear emerald water.

🌊 Why Is Hamdeok Beach So Popular?
Hamdeok Beach is located in Jocheon on the northeastern side of Jeju Island.
It is also commonly called Hamdeok Seoubong Beach because Seoubong volcanic cone rises directly beside it.
The first thing most visitors notice is the color of the water.
Near the shore, the sea can appear pale turquoise or emerald.
Farther out, it becomes a much deeper blue.
Combined with white sand and palm trees around the beach area, Hamdeok looks very different from Jeju's darker volcanic coastlines.

You can visit Hamdeok Beach throughout the year.
But official swimming operations have specific dates and hours.
For 2026, the official beach season runs from June 24 through September 6.
Designated swimming hours are 10:00 to 19:00.
Night swimming is not permitted.

Being on the beach after 19:00 does not mean you can continue swimming. You can enjoy the evening coast, but follow the official swimming hours and safety instructions.

Hamdeok is known for shallow, clear water close to the shore.

Hamdeok is not only a beach.
The green hill rising beside it is Seoubong.
A short uphill walk gives you a much wider view of the coast.

You can see the shallow water, sandy areas and surrounding coastline from above.
On clear days, the wider landscape of eastern Jeju can also open up around you.

🐕 Ham Dog Beach — A Special 2026 Feature
Hamdeok has something unusual among Jeju beaches.

During the 2026 beach season, a specific area near the Seoubong entrance operates as Ham Dog Beach.
This does not mean dogs can freely enter every swimming area.

You can walk beside the water, cross the bridge or simply sit near the shore.
Just remember that evening beach access and evening swimming are not the same thing.
